Kusatsu Snow&Spa
Resort, located in the western part of Gunma Prefecture,
stretches from the summit of Mt. Motoshirane (2,000 meters
ASL) down to Tenguyama (1,245 meters ASL). Its 8km downhill
course, one of the longest ski slopes in Japan, offers visitors
dynamic skiing experience with great powder snow. Kusatsu
Snow&Spa Resort attracts skiers from all over Japan throughout
its six-month long season, usually starts middle of November
and ends early May. The famous Kusatsu Onsen is another attraction
of this very popular ski resort.
Known as one of the oldest ski area developed
in Japan, Kusatsu Snow&Spa Resort now opens the whole area to
snowboarders as well. Baelz Hot Spring Center located within the
area is literally a hot spot for visitors to relax after a long day
of enjoyment. Kid's Square at Tenguyama Slope offers a safe and fun
playground for younger children. |

| Kusatsu Snow&Spa Resort was developed
in early Taisho period (1912-1926). In 1948, Japan's first
ski lift was put in for service on Tenguyama. The six oldest
ski resorts in the area formed a group called "Mountain
6" in 1999 and announced to become Japan's finest mountain
ski sites. |
